Overview
Getting your Oregon medical license? Here's exactly what you need to know so you can focus on practicing, not paperwork.
Who issues your license
The Oregon Medical Board licenses MDs, DOs, physician assistants, and podiatric physicians under a single unified board. Oregon has not joined the IMLC, so every Oregon license is a single state filing through the OMB. Oregon is known for thorough primary source verification and a processing average of two and a half to three and a half months.
Eligibility requirements
You'll need a degree from an accredited medical school and at least one year of postgraduate training for US LCME and AOA graduates. Three years for international medical graduates.
How to apply
The NPDB self-query must be submitted directly from NPDB to the Oregon Medical Board. Copies forwarded by the applicant are not accepted. FCVS is strongly recommended. Applications go through the Oregon Medical Board directly or via the FSMB uniform application. One thing to know, the NPDB self-query must be sent directly from the NPDB website to the board. If you forward a copy yourself, it will not be accepted. For files with disclosures, the board may require a personal interview.
What it costs
The initial application fee is three hundred and seventy-five dollars. A separate registration fee of approximately five hundred and seventy-six dollars is due at issuance, bringing the minimum to about nine hundred and fifty-one dollars. Biennial renewal is approximately five hundred and seventy-six dollars.
How long it takes
Most licenses take two and a half to three and a half months from submission. There is no compact pathway. Oregon is not in the IMLC, and there are no expedited options. Apply at least four to five months in advance. The delays we see most often, the NPDB self-query being forwarded by the applicant rather than sent directly from NPDB to the board, disclosures triggering a personal interview and adding weeks to the timeline, and new licensees missing the six-hour pain management CME requirement that must be completed within the first year of licensure. WhiteGlove handles your Oregon application from start to issued license.
